2013 Nationwide Series Championship: Battle Between Dillon and Hornish

 Vs.
Sam Hornish Jr.                                 Austin Dillon

Going into tomorrow's ServiceMaster 200 at Phoenix International Raceway, only two drivers are still in contention to win the Nationwide Series Championship. Barring any wrecks, engine issues, or bad finishes, this championship will more than likely go all the way to next week's finale race at Homestead. As it stands currently, Austin Dillon leads Sam Hornish Jr by 6 points going into Phoenix, a track that finds success for both drivers. What's so interesting about this championship is that these two drivers have been the most consistent drivers so far this year. Even though Hornish has a win and Dillon has none in 31 starts this year, the numbers are very close in terms of top-five and top-ten finishes. Dillon has so far recorded 12 top-fives and 21 top-tens where Hornish has recorded 15 top-fives and 23 top-ten finishes.

Both drivers are looking for their first Nationwide Series Championship. Hornish, a former Indycar Series champion, is looking for his first NASCAR championship after in Nationwide after failing to make the grade in the Sprint Cup Series from 2008-2010. Austin Dillon won the 2011 Camping World Truck Series Championship and 2012 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year.
